Seattle—The Washington State Jewish Historical Society is proud to present a virtual interview presentation with Rabbi Daniel Weiner, Senior Rabbi of Temple De Hirsch Sinai and
Rev. Dr. Carey Anderson, Senior Pastor of FAME Church discussing their relationship and work with civil rights and intercommunity relationships. Rabbi Weiner joins for an introduction session prior to the interview. A short presentation on the 1961 historic Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visit to the City of Seattle, hosted by Temple De Hirsch Sinai will be shown, featuring remarks from Rabbi Norman Hirsh, of Temple Beth Am (retired) on his work with the Central Area Civil Rights
Committee in the 1960s-1970s. The presentation, to be held virtually on January 12, 2020 will start at 5:00 pm. Please see our website at www.wsjhs.org/HHH for more information and to register for this free event that is open to the entire community.

“WSJHS is a leader in oral history interviews. This is our first joint interview with a Rabbi and a Pastor,” says WSJHS Executive Director Lisa Kranseler, “this topic is very important to the entire Seattle community and demonstrates the core Jewish value of Darchei Shalom, The Ways of Peace. In addition, the WSJHS will feature a recording of the interview on our Washington Jewish Museum at washingtonjewishmuseum.org.”

The reflections of the Rabbi and Pastor will encourage meaningful reflection and dialogue on this important issue that has historic significance as well as importance today.
