In the Land of Rain and Salmon

A Unique Adaptation of Jewish History in Washington State

Created in collaboration with Book-It Repertory Theatre, In the Land of Rain and Salmon draws on oral histories and archival materials to tell the stories of Jewish pioneers in Washington State. Developed with contributions from Lisa Kranseler, it premiered at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute and the former Congregation Bikur Cholim, reconnecting the community with a historic space. Debuting on June 2, 2013, the production launched a statewide tour of 20 performances at venues including Central Washington University, the Kirkland Historical Society, Redmond Trilogy, and The Summit. By blending performance and place, it brought regional Jewish history to life for audiences across the state. Sponsored by 4Culture.
