Ed, Jack and Ike were all involved in Seattle’s Sephardic Community.
This picture was taken at Alki Beach when they were on leave from the military c.1943-1945.
According to my sister, Wendy, the three friends were very generous and welcoming and invited people without family here to join them.

Sephardic Bikur Holim Camp Photo - 1960

During the mid 1940’s-1950’s the Sephardic congregations of Seattle, Congregation Ezra Bessaroth and Sephardic Bikur Holim
Congregation, created a summer camp program. Led by Rabbi Solomon Maimon, rabbi of the Sephardic Bikur Holim, the camp was committed to preserving Sephardic traditions, instilling the values of Sephardic Jewish heritage, building the moral character of the children and ensuring a summer of fun and memories to last a lifetime. The photo was taken circa 1960 by Victor Condiotty, a member of Sephardic Bikur Hoilm Congregation and professional photographer for the Seattle Times Newspaper.Donna Amira, a Sephardic camp alumna and member of Congregation Ezra Bessaroth and Sephardic Bikur Holim, along with the help of Rabbi Maimon and other camp alumni, identified the campers, staff and volunteers. She created an outlined diagram and key in order to cross reference the names with the people in the photo. Donna Amira donated the photo and supporting documents to the Washington State Jewish Historical Society.
